Sydney Tower Run-up 2009

There is $30,000 prize money to be won this year!

  • $15,000 for Elite Athlete category with $7,500 going to the fastest elite male and $7,500 going to the fastest female on the day

  • $6,000 for non-elite individuals category with $750 going to the fastest non-elite male and female in each of the aged based categories on the day

  • $4,000 for corporate team category going to the team with the fastest combined time on the day

  • $5,000 for novelty category with the fastest time on the day as a donation to the charity of their choice

The winner of each sub-category will each receive a trophy. All entrants will be able to download their personalised eCertificate from the website following the event. There are a variety of categories, some of which are new for 2009. You’ll need to select the category that best suits you or your team before you register.

Elite Categories:

The ‘cream of the crop’ – exceptional athletes looking to etch their names into history by taking out the event’s premier title:

  • Elite male
  • Elite female


Age based Categories:

Entrants wishing to compete against their peers in the correlating age and gender groups:

  • 24 & under male
  • 24 & under female
  • 25–34yrs male
  • 25–34yrs female
  • 35–44yrs male
  • 35–44yrs female
  • 45+yrs male
  • 45+yrs female


Corporate Category:

Entrants competing in mixed gender races, representing their employer organisations in teams of four, with the winners being determined by the best combined team time.

NEW Novelty Categories

Entrants representing various groups throughout the community and competing against each other in an entertaining and fun filled environment.


Surf Club Showdown Surf Life Saving Clubs throughout the country’s vast coastline nominate their best and take on each other for club pride and bragging rights
Armed Forces The Army, Navy and Air Force show us which element of our nation’s armed forces truly is the toughest
Emergency Services Representatives from the various emergency services that selflessly serve the public take on each other in the ultimate challenge
International Fire Fighter Challenge Fire Fighters from around the globe will be represented in this epic international battle between fire fighters, fully donned in their fire fighting outfits
Professional Sporting Challenge It's code against code, team against team, cheerleader against cheerleader!
